What is Field of Glory II: Rise of Persia?
This expansion extends Field of Glory II back to 681 BC, allowing players to experience the last flowering of chariot warfare in the ancient Near East. It chronicles the decline and fall of the Neo-Assyrian Empire, the rise of the Median and Babylonian Empires, and the conquest of these and the Lydian and Egyptian Kingdoms by the Achaemenid Persians.
The Neo-Assyrian Empire, founded in the late 10th century BC, reached its greatest extent at the end of the reign of Esarhaddon (681-669 BC), stretching from Mesopotamia to Cilicia and Lower Egypt. Its last strong king was Ashurbanipal (669-627 BC), after whose death civil wars and revolts led to its destruction by an alliance of Medes and Babylonians between 616 and 609 BC. The Babylonians under Nebuchadnezzar II then dominated the region, while the Medes carved out a large empire. By the mid-6th century BC, the fertile crescent was divided among four powers: Neo-Babylonian Empire, Median Empire, Lydia, and Egypt.
In 553 BC, Cyrus II the Great revolted against the Median King Astyages, founding the Achaemenid Persian Empire. He conquered Lydia in 546 BC and Babylon in 539 BC, with his son Cambyses II taking Egypt in 525 BC, creating the largest empire the world had known.

- 32 new units, including Assyrian-style Heavy Chariots, Egyptian Spearmen, Mede Spearmen, and more.
- 21 new army lists, expanding the total to 191.
- 6 new Epic Battles: Ulai 653 BC, Nineveh 612 BC, Megiddo 609 BC, Carchemish 605 BC, Pasargadae 550 BC, Opis 539 BC (playable from either side).
- 35 new Quick Battles (playable from either side).
- Expanded Custom Battles and Sandbox Campaign modules, including all army lists from other DLCs (requires purchase).
- 4 new historically-based campaigns: Ashurbanipal (Neo-Assyrian Empire), Fall of Assyria, Nebuchadnezzar II (Neo-Babylonian Empire), Rise of Persia.
- Mixed units with front-rank spearmen and back-rank archers.
How to Activate
- Create a Steam account if you don't have one.

- Once activated, download and play from your Library.
