Activation Instructions for Remote Desktop License Server

Step 1: Open Remote Desktop Licensing Manager
On the license server, click Start, point to Administrative Tools, point to Remote Desktop Services, and then click Remote Desktop Licensing Manager.

Step 2: Activate Server
Right-click the license server that you want to activate, and then click Activate Server. The Activate Server Wizard starts.

Step 3: Choose Connection Method
Click Next. On the Connection Method page, select Telephone from the connection method list, and then click Next.

Step 4: Select Country or Region
On the Country or Region Selection page, click your country/region, and then click Next to view the appropriate telephone number to call.

Step 5: Call Microsoft
Call Microsoft using the telephone number displayed on the License Server Activation page. Provide the Microsoft customer support representative with the Product ID displayed on your screen, along with your name and the name of your company.

Step 6: Receive License Server ID
The representative will process your request and create a unique ID for your license server. Type the license server ID provided by the representative on the License Server Activation page in the Activate Server Wizard, and then click Next.

Step 7: Complete Activation
Your license server is activated. On the Completing the Activate Server Wizard page, choose one of the following options:
- To install Remote Desktop Services client access licenses (RDS CALs) now, ensure that the Start Install Licenses Wizard now checkbox is selected, click Next, and follow the instructions.
- To install RDS CALs later, clear the Start Install Licenses Wizard now checkbox, and then click Finish.
