Office key already used, I need help!

Modified on: March 1, 2024

I bought an Office key, entered it at setup.office.com but it says used. What can I do?

First off, please look for your product below to know which solution works for you.

A. The solution below ONLY applies to software products that are binding to Microsoft account.

Here are the list of binding Office software:

Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2021

Office Home & Business 2016 for Mac

Office 2019 Home and Business for Mac

Office 2021 Home and Business for Mac

Office Home and Student 2019

OFFICE HOME & STUDENT 2016 PC

If the product you purchased is above, check if it has already been added to your Microsoft account. To do so, please follow the instructions below:

1. Go to your Microsoft account dashboard and if you're not already signed in, select Sign in. Make sure to sign in with the Microsoft account you associated with this version of Office.

2. From the top of the page, select Services and subscriptions and on that page, check if the Office you bought is there, then select Install next to it.

Services and subscriptions

If you can't find your Office under Services & Subscriptions, you can also check it in your Order History. Refine your search by selecting All under Show, and All available under Ordered within.

Order History

To install Office in a different language, or to install the 64-bit version, select the link Other options. Choose the language and bit version you want, and then select Install.

B. For Office product keys that are NOT mentioned above, please make sure that you have followed the instruction sent along with your key in My Orders. See How to Activate Office Key to check.

However, if none of the above solutions work, please contact our Customer Support Team via Support Tickets on your EF Dashboard so we can check if you are eligible for a refund or replacement.

To assist you better, please include the details below:

1. Order ID

2. Screenshot of the pop-up/error message

3. Additional information (if any)
